Sound
A Note On Soundclips:
Our Sound Clips are played from the Neck first and the Bridge last. Please note the Waveforms when comparing – the third “waveform” will be the Bridge pickup.
Be mindful when selecting outputs
The Wide Range humbucker is a strong pickup in terms of output. We recommend the High Output or Steel Pole 43, or the Split Blade or Split Steel Pole to match. The Vintage Hot, Blues Special and Steel Pole 42 will sound a bit out of balance, output-wise.

Prewired Telecaster Custom ’72 Pickguard FAQ's
General FAQs
Here are quick answers to common questions we get:
-
Which Tone Cap do I select?
We always recommend 0.022mfd as the Tone Cap value. A larger capacitance value means more roll-off, a lower capacitance value means less roll-off.
-
Can I return this pickguard?
No – all pickguards are built to order, and are non-returnable.
-
Can you coil-split the Wide Range Humbucker?
While it’s possible, we don’t recommend it. There are two main reasons why:
- The Wide Range Humbucker consists of two low-wind coils. These coils by themselves don’t produce a usable output.
- Half of the Coil’s magnets are under the cover, without the ability to adjust them easily. This will yield an unbalanced tone.

Customer Reviews
1 review for Prewired Telecaster Custom ’72 Pickguard
-
I got this for a 2002 CIJ ’72 Fender tele custom. The Fralin pickups sound incredible. The wide range is especially impressive ( far better than the stock one) and pairs really well with the blade. Loud, full, rich and no hum. Unfortunately, the prewired pick guard holes didn’t line up and I had some major buzzing after connecting everything, so I had to take it to a tech in the end. So much for an easy swap. Anyway, other than wasting some money on the pickguard and some extra tech $ ( both which will be forgotten), the end result was worth it. Hence 4 stars vs 5.
