Dogear Shim Height Calculator
Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

Rated 5 out of 5P90 set to replace p100s in ’89 Les Paul Special. Ordered raw nickel covers, 5% overwound bridge, non-RWPS, could not be happier!
That magic combination of grit and articulation. And I think the nickel covers, which connect to ground, help shield the pickups.
Great product, great service! -

Rated 5 out of 5I love this pickup. The coolest part of my order was picking up the phone to Mr. Fralin calling to confirm everything I had asked for. He did it right up perfectly! I really appreciate everything these guys have done to help me get the tones and output I was wanting. Couldn’t be happier! Thank you all!

Rated 5 out of 5I recently purchased a set of your standard dog ear P90’s for my epiphone Casino. I just had them installed. The pickups turned a good guitar into a spectacular guitar. Thank you for creating such a quality product. The pickups are so articulate. They exceeded my expectations. Many thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5I put these P-90 (original winding) in my Les Paul Deluxe. The mini humbuckers sounded great, nothing wrong with them, but they did not have the bite, that edge you get from P90’s. I know you guys know what I’m talking about. That’s what I needed. I normally play my favorite 1966 tele, so when switching from mini or full humbuckers, I was missing that aggressive bite I’m used to. I would highly recommend these pickups or any from The Fralin line up.
Shipping was quicker than expected. Many thanks!
Cheers,

Rated 5 out of 5My 5th Fralin pickup. This P90 did not disappoint. Tough but articulate. Like all my Fralin Pickups lots of nuance and dynamics that seem to be missing from other pickups. Great service and products. I’m looking forward to my next purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5These are by far the best P90s I have ever played!!! There is a true beefy single coil tone that most P90s are lacking. There is incredible detail in the tone. I am Fralin pickup customer for life now. These brought my Casino back to life. Thank you so much.

Rated 5 out of 5These pickups truly are the ultimate in vintage P90 tone. Installation was easy, as I had previously installed a solderless wiring harness. I would highly recommend doing this (make sure to get the 50’s wiring too). However, there was a slight mishap where the first set of pickups that shipped were out of phase. Now I know this might sound crazy, but I’m kind of happy this happened because then I got to experience Lindy’s legendary customer service. Receiving a phone call from the owner himself was a highlight of the purchasing process and he made it clear that everything was going to be taken care of it. He took care of it and then some. This is a wonderful company and I will absolutely be buying from them again. And it goes without saying that the pickups are fantastic — they are such an unbelievable improvement over the stock Epiphone P90 Pro pickups in my 2023 Casino. I can’t get a bad sound out of them. Sincere thanks to Lindy and the Team!

Rated 5 out of 5The P90 stock wound pickups just went into a prototype. They’re staying.
They’re articulate and superbly dinamic. The balance of frequency and of the two together is superb.
Absolutely quit shopping and testing. Order these immediately. -

Rated 5 out of 5So I have a 2023 Epiphone Les Paul Special. When I decided to keep it, I decided to eventually modify it. Why..simply out of curiosity..and for the fun of a ”doing it yourself mod “. I put CTS pots in, paper in oil caps (.022), wired it 50s style, switchcraft switch and jack. Then I chose a set of standard wound Fralin P-90s and put them in. Also changed the tail piece to a lightweight aluminum one. Mythos Pedal’s YouTube channel did this mod..I copied it. I’ll get to the point…It’s an absolutely fantastic sounding guitar.. tone up the wazoo !! The Fralin pickups sound so pleasing to my ear. That’s all you need to say really. Well worth the effort. Thank you Lindy Fralin for making amazing pickups. I am a happy guy !

Rated 5 out of 5I was looking for a good soapbar variant to replace the neck pickup in my LP Goldtop. Customer service was exemplary and directed me toward exactly what I needed. Fralin products have a reputation among tone chasers; try them out and you’ll immediately understand the hype. These are arguably the best P-90 pickups on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5I bought my dog ear p90 +5% overwound to swap into my Les Paul Junior. Definitely packs some more punch, greater output. Yet the clarity is still there. I’m a fan!!

Rated 5 out of 5A recent acquisition of a mid ’00s Fender Japan Aerodyne telecaster meant jettisoning the previous owners concept of a good matched (P90-tele bridge) set.
Nearly every single pickup maker says they’re doing “exact copies” of classic old school Gibs0n p90s & I don’t buy it. I know the big guys on Staten Island would have had an okay set that I could have grabbed off of almost any shelf here in Europe, but I strongly believe in the personal rapport from the supplier to the luthier to the musician to the music. After a bit of time driving myself crazy with “P90, telecaster neck pickup” google searches, I knew I needed to just have the right tool for the job, “cry only once” as the folks at my local bicycle shop like to say. So after a few thoughtful email exchanges with the team & a very pleasant phonecall with Lindy himself, there is now a 100% no BS neck pickup in my tele … it’s not trying to be anything else than a good old P90 following a simple recipe and like a good home cooked meal, wound to compliment the tele bridge that I ordered along with it.
Very grateful to Lindy & the crew for care & diligence with this custom order.

Rated 5 out of 5This P90 rips! And after I placed my order, Lindy took the time to call me and make sure the polarity, etc was exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5I ordered a set of soapbar p-90s, underwound by 5%, and dropped them into a thinline tele. Instant improvement. All the positions sound incredible – especially the bridge. They handle grit so so well. When I took the guitar to the studio, a session guitarist fawned over it. When he pushed a 65 Reverb with them, said he found one of his favorite tones ever. These pickups are so versatile and really good value for the money. Couldn’t recommend more.
