Sound
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.
Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

Here's how we wind and magnetize our pickups:
If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

Dogear Shim Height Calculator
Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

Rated 5 out of 5I ordered a set of overwound hum canceling P90’s with a raw nickel covers, beautiful things and easy to wire as falling off a log. They are VERY sensitive to pickup height, fortunately P90’s just get sweeter the farther away they are from the strings instead of merely fainter as some humbuckers tend to do. These are clear and defined, articulate without any ice picky annoying screech, and able to go from a subtle whisper to a full out roar depending on where your pickup selector is at the time and what your guitars volume is set at. For guys that dislike switching channels on an amp, these are a godsend. I have these in a 2015 Les Paul Special that originally came with solid slug P90’s that I really dislike. Now this is one of my desert island guitars, along with my LP Standard that also as Fralin humbuckers. Can’t recommend these enough!

Rated 5 out of 5The noiseless P-90 is my first Fralin pickup. Loaded in my Fender Noventa Telecaster, the sound is open and articulate with some classic P-90 sound when played through a clean amp (Fender Pro Junior IV). The pickup is very quiet and greatly reduced the amount of noise. The stock pickup sounded great but was really noisy in my old house with really old wiring — not much shielding here.
The fun really started when I kicked on the Formula 55 overdrive and cranked up the Pro Junior. It was the P-90 growl and crunch I was hoping for. The bottom end doesn’t get muddy and mids are right where they need to be.
I have since ordered a set up humbucker-sized P-90s for my LP.

Rated 5 out of 5This was exactly what I needed! I play a Reverend Double Agent which is a great guitar and now having both pickups be hum-canceling really makes it my go-to guitar for everything.

Rated 5 out of 5I love these Hum Canceling P90!
Following Jon’s advice from Fralin, my luthier installed the P90 set with 500k pots and a .22 capacitor. After this installation he told me that he was really impressed by the sound, the balance, the dynamics, the precision and the definition of these P90s. Only superlatives.
And the fact that these P90s don’t take up more space than standard P90s is really an advantage. And personally, I think like him. I rediscovered my very good Saint Blues Juke Joint Bluesmaster guitar. It’s now an excellent guitar, and it’s the one I play most often, very inspiring. And even pushing the amp and the Overdrive pedal, no significant hiss. Impressive!
In summary, I can say that for a Mahogany body, a Mahogany neck and a Rosewood fingerboard, so Les Paul type, it’s really absolutely recommendable P90s. Impossible to be disappointed. I said.

Rated 5 out of 5Far exceeded expectations. For a little background, I got the overwound pickup and put it in a 68 SG tuned to drop A. The clarity is stunning. The growl is real. And when I roll back the volume, it’s beautiful. I run through a Mesa 50 caliber plus, and this setup is just perfect at blending grit and clarity. Should also mention that when playing leads, there is zero ice pick. Recommend for all p90 fans.

Rated 5 out of 5I put a pair of hum cancelling p-90’s in my ‘67 es-330 along with a new harness (want to keep the original intact)
I didn’t think I could love this guitar any more than I did, but I was wrong! It sounds amazing and is totally noiseless.
I also want to thank Lindy for personally calling me to help me figure out what the pickups I took out of there were. One had been replaced and was a poor match.
I couldn’t be happier with Lindy’s Pickups
Thank you! -

Rated 5 out of 5Ordered the noiseless p90’s a while ago to put them into a LP special tribute, had to replace the PCB in the guitar to put the pickups in (didn’t bother me at all to get rid of that cheap PCB setup) these p90’s have improved everything about this guitar, love fralin pickups, put some blues specials in a telecaster a while back and same for that guitar too, just improved everything about it. If you are looking to replace pickups in any guitar I would highly recommend anything by fralin. Excellent work five stars!

Rated 5 out of 5I recently acquired a 2012 Gibson SG Junior. I loved everything about the guitar, especially the sound of the stock P-90 which was extremely rich and clear, yet punchy in the mid-range. However, I was really bothered by the 60-cycle hum. I ordered the Fralin hum-cancelling P-90 and specified the standard winding (neither over- nor under-wound) because I figured it would sound the closest to the stock pick-up. In fact, when it was installed, it sounded EXACTLY like the original but without the hum. I could not have been happier. I wholeheartedly recommend this pick-up.

Rated 5 out of 5The Fralin Hum Cancelling P90 is the best sounding pickup I have ever heard or played. From this point onwards, I will only be playing guitars equipped with it.

Bought the -5 underwound noiseless P-90 for the neck position on my PRS and along with a PAF in the bridge (from another vendor) the guitar (which I’ve been looking over 5 years for a solution) has become exactly what I wanted it to be. PAF in the bridge, open sounding neck pickup with no noise…can’t put it down. Went from last in line to first. Thank you Fralin. Its rare when you buy something and think…nailed it. But yep…this did the trick. Get the -5 on the neck if you want to get rid of the dark and lifeless pickups that come in guitars sometimes.

Rated 4 out of 5I just had these pickups installed in my 2013 50s Tribute LesPaul, +5% overwound on both, my intial thoughts are WOW!! they really made that guitar come to life,(4-stars for now, probably go to 5 after I play them a bit!!) Much more body than with the stock P-90s, Playing up the neck now this guitar really sings, no drop off on the high strings as before. Lows are tight, Mids growl nicley, highs are very sweet to my ears, all with no noise! Awesome product! I may now have to look into some of your other offerings for my humbucker guitar!

Rated 5 out of 5I installed 2 Fralin Noiseless P90s into my baritone guitar and am totally impressed. Very quiet and super punchy – a big improvement on my stock P90s. They were a big hit at my last show -I had more clarity and intelligibility in the band mix, and I plan on touring with this guitar.. Also appreciate the direct support and guidance from the staff at Fralin -nice and helpful people. Maybe I can get a tour of the shop next time I play Richmond.

Rated 5 out of 5Hi, I got an email asking me to review or tell you what I thought of the noiseless P90s but I hadn’t had them in a live situation yet.Well, last weekend I got the chance to do a show with them but now I can’t find the email.
Long story short, they sounded fantastic, I’m very pleased. Best tone I’ve had out of that guitar and even at high volume that irritating pickup hum is more or less gone.

Rated 5 out of 5I put these pickups in an Epiphone ’55 Les Paul Custom and they really do sound great. They sound like the Gibson P-90s that come stock with the guitar, (which I liked) but without the ugly noise. I fine-tuned my set to include a – 5% underwound in the neck position for added clarity with cleaner tones, and a + 5% in the bridge position for a little more punch with drive tones, and this spec works great for me. You can read all the reviews, but you never really know how your pickups will sound until you play them through your own guitar and amp(s), and in this case, I could not be happier. I also have to say that Lindy Fralin has built a first class company that is focused on great products, excellent customer service, and quality above quantity. This is a company that I will continue to support in the future, and I’m already shopping for my next pickups!

Rated 5 out of 5I replaced my stock Gibson custom shop SG special p90s with Lindys noiseless p90s. The Gibsons were too dull and muddy especially in the bass position and they had that horrible hum. The new pickups have fixed both issues. Bothe positions are more articulate and noiseless which is great for recording.

I have just put a dog ear hum-cancelling P90 in my 2001 Les Paul Junior. Beautifully made and fitted without any mods to the guitar at all.
Far better sounding pup than the expensive hand made P90 that was in there before (which had been a significant upgrade over the stock pup. Clearer and gutsier at the same time.
Less hum and noise than any of my other humbucker equipped guitars. Finally I can use the guitar anywhere without worry.
May well be the best pup of any kind ever made. -

Rated 5 out of 5I had been contemplating upgrading the P90s in my Goldtop Deluxe for a number of years fo these Hum-Cancelling P90s. I absolutely could not be more pleased with my decision. My only regret is not pulling the trigger sooner. I dropped in a stock set and the clarity is perfect..with no hum. Thank you Lindy et al.

Rated 4 out of 5I really like the P-90s that came in my Les Paul Special. Had no strong desire to change them tone-wise, but I needed to get rid of the noise. When the Fralin Hum-cancelling P-90s were installed, I noticed a little difference in the treble. The Fralin had a little bit rounder top end. I usually roll off the tone controls to about 8. Don’t do that with the Hum-Cancelling Fralins. Having gigged with these pickups a number of times I have discovered some wonderful qualities; a little extra something in the mids or lower-mids, and a little extra sustain. They sound great to me now, and NO HUM! My Special is now a go anywhere, do any gig guitar.

Rated 5 out of 5These P90s deliver everything you’d want in a P90 – without the hum! If anything they have more clarity than the stock Fender P90s I started with. They’re kind of an ideal solution if you want to eliminate hum but retain the authentic sound of a P90

Rated 5 out of 5I cannot convey strongly enough how these pickups are fantastic!!! I put them into a ’56 Epiphone LP reissue for my blues band and have been playing them at weekly gigs for the past 4 months.
They provide the right amount of clarity AND bite they are perfect. Each pickup is voiced in such a way that they drastically change the sound of the band. The neck pickup (stock) is thick and responsive, the bridge pickup (wound -5%) is jagged and forceful, AND the middle position has a lovely balanced tone for rhythm work. Oh, let’s not forget, they are hum-cancelling!!!
I couldn’t be happier. Cheers Lindy and his team.
