Sound
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.

Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

Dogear Shim Height Calculator
Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

I got the 5% overwound Fralin P90 a few weeks ago.. Just had it put in my Sparrow semi-hollow body guitar. It sounds fantastic.. Low noise.. Every note sounds powerful and crunchy and rings like a bell. Fantastic tone with chords and solos. I’ve been playing for over 40 years and owned almost every kind of guitar imaginable; and I think this is the best sounding pickup I’ve ever heard. I replaced the humbucker bridge pickup in this guitar that I recently bought.. My guitar tech had no problem making making the P90 work in the humbucker slot. With the pickup cover you can’t even tell it’s been modified; and it turned this into my favorite guitar! Great work and kudos to the Fralin team. I will definitely be buying more of these!

I now have three guitars with the Hum-Less Bridge P90 in them. They are sound different because of the wood, neck, etc. However they all sound great. It just has that growl and clearity I need for the covers my band plays which is Country, Pop to Classic Rock. Just put one in my Les Paul Junior single bridge guitar and its perfect. Great tones and no hum! I have tried many other brands, and now I only use Fralin’s. It’s my sound!

These pickups are great. No hum, crackle or noise at all and all the tone. I installed them in a 2021 Les Paul Special that had issues. So I re-wired to 50’s wiring with the hum cancelling Fralin P90’s and the guitar is ridiculous. Thank you. I also have the pure PAF’s in my Les Paul Standard as well and I will probably buy the Tele blues pickups eventually. Great products and solid upgrades to any guitar.

I’m new to the world of custom made pickups. My guitar tech recommended Fralin. OMG! Humm canceling single neck position pickup. I had no idea that I was in for such a HUGE difference in sound. Fralin Pickups is a great American company to do business with. After patiently handling numerous phone calls and even exchanging a pickup for me we came up with what I feel is the ultimate combination of picks for my LP Junior single-cut build. The final combination was a Noiseless 5% over-wound P90 dog-ear in the bridge and a 3% under-wound Big Single mini in the neck. A warm full-bodied yet articulate set up that perfect for the Classic Rock and blues I enjoy. Thanks so much to Lindy and his awesome support staff.

This is my second all Fralin guitar. The last one was a Tele with the Sunbucker/Alnico Rod P90 pair. This one has two of the noiseless P90’s. It turned out great! I love the Fralin control panel as well. Easy and marked install wires with pots and caps that feel and sound right.
I compared these noiseless P90s (underwound neck and standard bridge) to my other Gibsons with P90’s. They sound just like a standard P90 but without the noise! All the clarity and grind I was hoping for. Highly recommended. No wonder custom builders use these pickups in their P90 builds.

This pickup has made my PRS SE One stage worthy at last! It’s dead quiet, and has authentic P-90 definition and bite. Easy to install, and easy to dial in perfect string balance. And it looks perfect! It is a touch darker than an original P-90. There’s a bit less of the single coil flavor, but that’s more than made up for by the absence of noise. Set your treble knob a little higher and you’re good to go. GREAT PICKUP!

I fully expected the hum cancelling to be very effective. But being the tech nerd I am, I wanted to do a very accurate before/after test of it. It’s pretty amazing – like > 24dB reduction in hum. I got a set of these hum cancelling P90s for a semi-hollow parts build I’d been planning for ages. I did a ton of research and ultimately landed on these and wow am I glad I did. Truly the best sounding pickups I’ve ever had in a guitar I’ve owned. I went with stock wind in the neck and overwound in the bridge position and I’m really happy with that configuration. So much sweetness and clarity in the neck and bite in the bridge position. With gain cranked, the bridge pickup sounds heavy without being at all muddy. Oh and they are dead silent! Really over the moon and would definitely recommend these incredible pickups.

Exactly what I wanted- the growl and bite of a vintage (albeit overwound) P90 without the hum. This was my 3rd Fralin noiseless P90. I have one each – stock, 5% under-wound, and 5% overwound, and they all sound great in their respective spots. Highly recommended, especiallyif you wanttobe able to use your P90 guitar everywhere.

Very happy overall with the tonality of these pick-ups and the overall customer experience. I wanted noiseless p90s for my Collings I-30 LC to replace the stock Lollar p90s, which are custom sized and were picking up major hum in my new apartment. I spoke to a prominent NYC luthier for advice, and he recommended I call Lindy. Lindy was very friendly and agreed to fit the new noiseless P90s to the existing pickup baseplates and dogear covers so that they could be a drop-in replacement without modifying the guitar. The new pickups were shipped ahead of schedule and fit the guitar perfectly once installed. Not only are these new pickups noiseless, but they also have a slightly rounder tone that I find works much better for the jazz/blues style that I play. I get fantastic tones out of all 3 pickup positions, whereas the old p90s were a bit too edgy for me and needed the tone rolled waaay back even on the neck pickup. My tone is now dialed in and I am a very happy camper!

Was not surprised with how good these pickups sound. Dead quiet, … P90 sound, and outstanding build quality. Got Fralins in about six guitars now and have never been disappointed. Thanks to Lindy and all the staff for a great pickup and exceptional service!

In truth, I haven’t used my P90 Hum Canceling pups yet. They are going to be installed in a custom guitar that is being built for me by North Coast Guitar Company here in Grand Rapids Michigan. I will say that the customer service is over the top! I can’t imagine the P90s wouldn’t perform at the same level. Thanks to all staff!

Excellent pickup. Dead quiet and sounds almost exactly like a real P90. It’s a tad darker but that can be easily fixed with the amps tone controls if you want.

So to be succinct, I love the hum cancelling p90 y’all made for me! Sorry I didn’t do the review from the link you sent me, I just finished assembling the parts caster your pickup now lives in. It’s a sound I wish I’d thought about trying YEARS ago.
