Features
The Fralin P-J Set includes our Stock P-Bass pickup, and our noiseless and rich Split Jazz Bridge. This set is noiseless in all positions, with a fat and rich tone. Our Split Jazz Bridge has a Left-Right coil design, which sounds better than stacked coils. The Fralin P-J Set gives you more snarl on your bridge and deep lows on your neck.
All of our bass pickups feature hand-built bobbins and hand-wound clarity. Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. This P-J Set consists of local fiberboard and USA-Made Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.
Features:
- Original Fender specifications, with modern output
- Overwound Noiseless Bridge for noiseless operation across all positions
- USA-made Alnico 5 Magnets for optimal tonal balance and output
- Hand-wound with our “Sectioning” technique for unique, dynamic tone
- Hand-built fiberboard Bobbins for unrivaled quality control
- 10-Year Warranty on manufacturing defects
Sound
The Fralin P-J Set is the best sounding P-J Pickup Set you can buy. Alnico 5 Magnets and our hand-wound coils give this P-J Set an impressive range and articulation. Expect deep, rich lows and a top-end sparkle – all across a warm and fat midrange. The P-Bass pickup has an even balance across highs and lows. The compensated Split Jazz Bridge focuses more on a thicker midrange snarl. The volume is equal across all positions. The Fralin P-J Set will breathe life into your bass by extending its range and dynamics.

The P-J pickup sounds good, however the standard wind on the jazz pickup makes the jazz pickup a lot quieter than the p pickup. I would recommend getting the over wound version to equal them out more. Also the set I received were very noisy even with grounds connected to the body shielding, I was able to fix this by adding copper tape shielding to the pickguard and pickup cavities over the top of the conductive paint from the factory. The pickups are marketed as noiseless and hum free and were a lot more noisy than the Dimarzio DP126 pj set (which are almost half the price of the fralins at $179) that were in the bass before hand. Also the pickup covers are not attached to the actual pickups which made installing them into the body more of a pain than it needed to be.
TLDR: Pickups were noisy and overpriced in my opinion if the shielding did not fix the hum issue I would have sent them back. Sound 7/10, similar range as other aftermarket pickups. My experience: touring bassist 150 shows a year and I change pickups on my guitars and basses frequently.

Hey Lane, would you like to exchange the Bridge pickup for something hotter? We overwind the Split Jazz Bridge by 5%, but we can certainly go +10% if you need! Just let us know by emailing us at [email protected]

Fender Aerodyne. Yanked everything out and put new Mojo pots and . 47 mfd cap in. D’aderio semi flats (half rounds). I added springs over the screws cuz the foam I had just wasn’t stout enough and these don’t come with foam.
Oh Wow!! The sustain on these is incredible!! I used to get lost in the mids but not anymore! Balanced from E to G, clear, noiseless! Made this bass sound like Fender should have made it originally – now she sounds as good as she looks! Customer service is outstanding! Fast responses to questions! So glad I spent the extra and went with Fralin!!!! -
Had a particularly bright bass I wanted to sell but the overwind had the exact desired effect. +5% neck with +10%, thunderous and clear.

I love the Lindy Fralin P-J bass set. Amazing sound. Extremely flexible / versatile. Absolutely silent no matter where I set the controls. These are keepers!

After replacing the stock preamp in my player plus I still needed to roll off the treble and crank the bass. Even then it was still thin for my taste. This set did the trick! I get really nice low end punch and a lot more usable tone from the pre. This is my second purchase from Fralin and both times I got what I was looking for.

Got a PJ set for my Squier short scale Jaguar bass. The pickups fit perfectly without any needed modifications. My bass now has a greatly improved and balanced tone across all the strings (the stock pickups were a bit lacking on the D & G strings). Nicely done.

I upgraded from the stock pickups on my 2014 Fender Aerodyne with a set of PJ’s. WHAT a Difference! I’ve been using flatwounds and these pickups REALLY add the Growl of a vintage 60’s Fender! These are the 3rd set of PJ’s I have added to my Bass collection. I’m a Very happy customer. Great Job Lindy Fralin Team! Keep up the Good Work! BC

I be love my new pickups. They sound great!!
-
High end, quality pickups. Accurate, flat frequency response. Top quality build. I would suggest the 10% overwound on the Bridge position. The Neck position does not have the low end Hz reach, or the mid-high P-Bass presence peaks of the original pickup. The Fralin Neck position sounds tight, full, and clean when playing along with Highway Jam.
-
I was told by another pickup manufacturer it wasn’t possible to make a Jazz bridge pickup and a P-Bass pickup match volume. This set proves otherwise. I’m just a discerning player. In a “classic” setup I want things to look the part, but be built better and sound better than “classic” and that’s what this pickup set does. The bass guitar world needs more of this.

When I find a Bass that feels good in my hands, sometimes the electronics are subpar. I’ve used Fralin pickups before and have been thrilled with the results! My most recent project was upgrading a Squire Jaguar Bass with the Fralin PJ pickups. The Precision neck pickup added a LOT of horsepower! The Jazz Bridge pickup adds clarity when I blend it in. I realize I put more $ in electronics than the guitar cost, but now it’s Exactly the way I want it to sound! I’m a Happy Customer!
