Sound
Fralin P-Bass Pickups are like our J-Bass® Replacements: they have a huge fat tone. Fralin P-Bass Pickups are fat, punchy, and round. The lows are deep and rich, and the highs are sweet and clear. The first thing you’ll notice when you install these pickups is how you can hear more of your P-Bass. You’ll hear an extended low-end and a rounder top-end. These pickups are very vintage sounding, but with modern power.
- For an era-authentic 50’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
- For a thicker midrange and fewer highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
- For an even thicker tone than the +5%, you can opt for +10%. This is perfect for anyone looking for an aggressively strong midrange and dark tone. Perfect for balancing out a bright sounding bass.
- If you’re looking for a little cleaner tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

Pickups work as advertised along with an upgrade of pots and cap purchased from Fralin, which results in more bass (10% overwind) and treble (0.01uF capacitor) for a wider tonal range in my ’75 p-bass.

I had to get on here and say these pickups are AMAZIN ! I gripped 5% overwound , and coupled with my 20 year old flatwounds they make this here thrift store bass sound VERY $PICY!! from a sonic perspective, this bass holds its own with any fancy pants vintage blah blah lawyer instrument WORD IS BOND!!!!!
-
These 5% over wounds went in to a ‘75 fender. Quite a difference. Highly recommend!
-
Swapped out my Fender Pure Vintage ‘63 for the Fralin stock wind. Breathed new life and a lot more clarity into what felt like an otherwise dark P bass. Love it
-
I installed the Fralin P Bass 5% Overwind pickups in my recent Pbass build and they are amazing. I love them so much I’m going to replace the Pure Vintage ‘63 split-coil P Bass pickups that came in my Original 60s P-Bass with them.
-
Got my first set of Lindy Fralin pickups for my Fender P-Bass installed today. Always wanted to try a set. Mine are 5% under wound. I like them very much. Will use more in the future.
-
I replaced this in a Fender P Bass that I purchased in 1979 my old faithful now it has a new life so much warmth and a solid sound that I was looking for .
-
I play modded Squier p basses with d’addario chrome flats. I’ve got +5 pups in one and now some +10 pups in the other. They both sound different and both sound great. The +10 bass sounds really deep and filling. Our singer loves it. If you like rebuilding and refurbishing your own basses, these are a great, quality upgrade.
-
Recently added a 10% overwound set in a MIM Player jazz bass fretless. Very nice over the stock pups. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and will be purchasing another 10% overwound set for a MIM Precision bass I just purchased. Just a great product.
-
Very nice sounding pick up for a real vintage rock sound with powerful but controlled bass and punchy but sweet and non fatiguing medium. Installed on a Bacchus Craft series p bass with outstanding performance, no need to upgrade anything anymore.
-
I called and spoke to Lindy personally over the phone, told him what exactly I wanted my 98 Made in Mexico Pbass to sound like, he recommended the stock Pups. I ordered about 2 months ago, and finally had them installed. Wow! These are truly, the best sounding pups I’ve ever heard! My bass sounds exactly what’s been missing from my sound! So versatile as well with all styles of whatever I want! I highly recommend these, and will be installing in all my bass guitars in the future! Lindy, I want to personally say thank you, and you have another customer for life!
-
Excellent pick up. Super responsive and expressive, it’s the P Bass sound you hear in your head! I couldn’t be happier with it.
-
These are the most awesome bass pickups I have ever owned
The lows and the mids out these p bass pickups are way beyond my expectations
I am
So happy that I decided to install these in my p bass
I would suggest them for anyone wanting to upgrade their p bassMy only complaint was that the pickups were a little bit larger than the original one and I had to cut out my pick guard to install them properly
They truly do sound AMAZING!! -
Just installed the P-Bass Stock pickup in my mim fender Precision Bass, this pickup is everything that it is advertised as this will not be the last time I purchase from Lindy Fralin as I also have a Fender Jazz bass i will now upgrade

Simply the best pickups and the best customer service.
I’ve had Fralin P-Bass pickups in my #1 Precision for over 10 years. They’re perfect for me in every way; exactly the sound I want and never any trouble. So, when I decided to build a custom fretless P-bass, I never considered anything else. Why would I? If you want the best pickups, made exactly the way they should be made, from the nicest and most helpful folks in the business, buy from Lindy Fralin. And, if you want the best sound from your P-bass, buy these.
