Sound
The Alnico Noiseless P90 Humbucker is the perfect pickup for those looking for a cleaner, more articulate tone in a Humbucker Cover. Even though we call it a P90, it’s not quite a P90: it has an airiness and sparkle not found with adjustable pole pieces. Also, it’s great for those looking to balance a dark guitar. You’ll find that this pickup stays clean, while still having a fat, beefy midrange and thickness commonly found with P90 pickups.
The Alnico Noiseless P90 Humbucker will not sound like a traditional P90, but one with a familiar Fender sparkle on the top-end. Clean and articulate when playing without distortion. You’ll find that the nuances of your playing will come out as this pickup “breathes” more than it’s compressed P90 counterpart. Chords have an excellent string-to-string definition, and single notes are round and warm. With distortion, you’ll find a breakup that is late and smooth with a familiar Fender Strat-type tone.
Our Alnico Noiseless P90 Humbucker features a pronounced midrange as well. You’ll find that the Alnico Hum-Cancelling P90 Humbucker will still sound fat and warm. The midrange is softer than a P90, but this pickup is fatter and warmer than our Big Single and Twangmaster.

Here's how we wind and magnetize our pickups:
If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

P-90 Alnico Noiseless:
This is my 2nd purchase of this pickup, First for a neck position tele and another for a Danelectro 66BT Baritone to replace
the noisy neck position stock P90.On the Tele, it was exactly as described a
thicker sounding single coil, dramatically better tone with ZERO hum with no compromise on the tone whatsoever. Mid range is full with sparkle on top and much more open sounding than a PAF.For the Baritone, it was a perfect replacement for the stock and paired well with the cool Lipstick HB, just needed to wire reversed polarity which was easy to do due to dual lead option. I might replace the lipstick HB with the new Fralin Filtertron….
So I highly recommend this pickup specially if you record a lot and use various ways to track (modelers, direct and amps) It is a game changer in quality and sound.

These pickups are unreal. Single coil sparkle, P90 grit, humbucking size. So quiet, so clean and clear…everything I wanted for my Gibson ES-335.

I am working on a series of guitars that are ultralight, with smaller & thinner than normal bodies that are partly made of paulownia. It has been very challenging getting a meaty tone out of an ultralight guitar. I have spent the last several years auditioning, an endless number of pickups including several of Fralin’s offerings. In the end, the one that is working best and sounds wonderful is the noiseless alnico P90 from Fralin. I am able to get good clean tones and excellent edge of break up tones that are always warm and have a rounded attack, never harsh. I highly recommend this pickup.

This pickup changed a guitar I was thinking of getting rid of into my favorite guitar.
-
I needed “a full-bodied sound with sparkling clarity” in my neck pickup. The Alnico Noiseless P90 gives me exactly that.
-
Very rich tones, put it in a All American ’98 SG (a single pickup SG), in replacement of the original 500T. The result is just fantastic, Thank you Lindy ! I’m gonna buy a hum cancelling P90 soapbar for my Les Paul 🙂

Absolutely love the alnico noiseless p90. exceeded my expectations.

GREAT CHOICE FOR HSS BUILDS!
I have this pickup in the bridge position of my HSS Strat. The other two pickups are Fralin Vintage Hots. The electronics include 300K pots, wired with two tone pots. Neck and middle with a 0.047 cap and the bridge with a 0.022 cap. Works great! The Alnico Noiseless P90 does not overpower the regular single coils, but rather complements them in a nice beefy way. Recommended.

I could say thaI I think this is the greatest sounding pickup ever made but like all things musical that would be very subjective as applications vary greatly as well as musical tastes. So instead I will just describe this pickup as my ears hear it. I own both humbucker and single coils guitars as most do but. Prefer and favor single coils. Thats not to say that humbuckers don’t have certain qualities that you can’t achieve from single coils and there have been many innovative designs that have tried to bridge the gap but usually sound more like one or the other. That is what makes this one so unique and original, and in all honesty I don’t even no how possible. It has all the great qualities of a humbucker but still sounds like a single coil. Again how is this possible?
The qualities I speak of that I have never heard of in single coils are. massive harmonics much like a SD JB, also notes bloom like a high quality humbucker, low end similar to a humbucker but with sparkling chimey highs, all of this but still sounding like an authentic single coil. I know this doesn’t make sense as you saying well it has to sound like one or the other because they are 2 entirely different animals….we’ll that was true until this came along. This pickup is not only original it is revolutionary. -
Great pickup did my research new this pickup was right for me sounds great looks great
-
Excellent Humbucker sized P90’s. These sound absolutely amazing!
-
I was looking for a “strat on steroids” sound for the neck slot in my s2 McCarty and this delivers in spades. 60 cycle hum is incredibly quiet, better than some traditional humbuckers I’ve used over the years.
-
I’m new to the aftermarket pickup game…, but think I must have started in the right place. The Fralin humbucker-sized alnico P90 found a home as the neck pickup in my G&L ASAT Bluesboy, making it one of my favorite guitars to pick up and play. I’d try to describe the sounds, but probably end up coming off like somebody who was trying too hard (although I’m convinced that “oozing electified butter” would be an appropriate descriptor…, but I digress). All to say: you’ll feel you made the right decision the moment you first hit the strings. Thank you to the entire Fralin Team. You guys and girls rock. ??

If my review had to be in a single word it would be : WOW !!!
I was looking for humbucker routed pickups that would get as close as possible as Jazzmaster’s pickups and was advised the Alnico Noiseless P90. Jon, who kindly answered my many many questions and guided me through my hesitations, told me that they “fall somewhere between P90 and Jazzmaster type of sound” and that is exactly it. Those pickups are really more on the Fender side than on the P90’s one (so if you really are after that exact sound these are not for you), but in the same time they are more beefy than traditional single coil pickups without losing any clarity or being overwhelmingly beefy and mid-rangy.
To sum up the Alnico Noiseless P90 really are “best of both worlds pickups”, they are not P90s, they are not Jazzmaster or other traditional Fender single coils, they are kind of all that at a time ! I do not know how Lindy came up with this wizardry but what I do know is that my search for pickups for my humbucker routed Jazzmaster is over ! -
The P 90 has great clarity and smoothness. I am very pleased with the sound. I plan to add more Lindy Fralin pickups to other guitars in the near future. Thanks Lindy.
-
Incredibly warm sounding pickup. Really fattens up the tone in my ultralight guitar. Love that Lindy experiments and comes up with original pickup ideas!

What can I say….it cured my guitar of a stuffy nose. 🙂
I’d obviously heard many great things about Fralin pickups over the years but they were a bit out of my price range then, a couple of years ago I was building a LesCaster (Les Paul flat slab body routed for Telecaster pickups and managed to nab a second hand Fralin Blues Special for the neck……and I was blown away.
Great sparkle while not being too shrill, even though that guitar has no volume or tone pots just the toggle selector and a 220k resistor to ground. The only guitar I own that was built by an actual guitar company is an original run 2003 Gibson Les Paul Voodoo and it’s always been a bit of a problem child.
I love the feel of it but the stock pickups were way too hot and though I went through many different pickups over the years (EMG ZW set, Duncan P-rails, Duncan\dimarzio P.A.F.s, etc) it was always a bit flabby in the neck on the wound strings.
The best point I got too was with a cheap Tonerider Rebel 90 set (for the price they’re actually pretty impressive pickups) but the neck was still a bit muddy on the low strings and a bit too plastic mids on the high strings and they were pretty noisy ith higher gain setting, which is understandable for standard P-90’s.Then I decided not to skimp anymore.
Replaced the bridge with a SUHR Thornbucker and saved up to order Lindy’s Alnico Noiseless P-90, largely due to Fralins description and suggestion that it’s a “good choice to balance a darker guitar”.
For me that was completely accurate. The neck pick up is now clear with a gorgeous sparkle and though it is still a warm sound the low strings a far more focussed and clear, getting just enough of that throaty Blues Special “zing” that I fell inlove with on the LesCaster while still keeping enough of the gruntier P-90 sound.
It’s also DEAD quiet and I do mean DEAD quiet!
On my lead sound (Xotic SL Drive pushing into Slash style gain levels) the Alnico Noiseless P-90 is quieter than the SUHR Thornbucker humbucker thats in the bridge. The only issue I have is that the two pickups don’t pair well. I’m assuming that’s just a matter of the magnets opposing so a coil split option may work.
Having said that, I don’t feel the need for the middle position anymore.
I used it a lot with the toneriders to put a bit more clarity into the neck sound but the Fralin P-90 does such a great job on it’s own that it’s really not necessary and makes swtching between neck/bridge/neck way better for me (I’m pretty unrefined in my switching technique, I kind of just swat the toggle up or down so being precise enough to get the middle position was always very frustrating). Also, I’m using it without any volume or tone controls (I never touched then anyway so just decided a few years ago to take them out completely) just pickups->toggle->output jack and it’s not too shrill at all which I’d say suggests it would work just as well in a brighter guitar with appropriately paired volume pot.
In conclusion, for me this pick up has solved a nearly 20 year battle with my favourite guitar to get it’s true voice out and make it sing.
I knew the voice was there (despite many people hating on the Voodoo series) I just needed to find it and Fralin helped me do that perfectly. Thanks very much to you all1!
I will definitely be back for more when I’m building my next guitar. -
Great pickup with good clarity and tone! My wife approves!

I think the description and other reviews have covered most of the lovelies about this pickup, but there’s a little to add. In addition to the big, clear, articulate, balanced, uncompressed and natural tone this pickup captures, it’s worth mentioning how well it sounds through a variety of pedals. With tube overdrive, I get a wonderful singing tone with half the gain I need for other pickups. Most notably this pickup holds solid tone through a range of phase, delay, chorus and other ambient pedals that often mask tone. I have this as a neck pickup in an Ibanez Custom 335 style guitar, with a P-92 in the bridge for a little snarl. With some light compression and good EQ, this sounds very much like a classic P90 which sounds great for jazz, but you can’t really decompress a P90 to make it sound like this one. I am thinking that this pickup might be better thought of tonally as a variant of a Dynasonic, or Supro gold foil pickup, but just “bigger”. So glad it’s in my fleet!!
