In version 2 of the Humbucker Tele wiring digram, we’re rewiring the blade switch and using a 500K resistor for a compensated tone. In the first version, using a resistor helps keep things tonally balanced – the Neck pickup “sees” 500K, while the Bridge pickup “sees” 250K. In the middle position, however, both pickups “see” ~163K, which darkens the signal. This isn’t a huge deal as parallel wiring yields a brighter tone.

That said, if you try version 1 and find the middle position too dark for your tastes, try this diagram instead!
